These Americans was set into motion, over the winter, when I sat down to write a new song. You could say I just kind of kept writing.
Most of the characters in the book have been floating around in my head for many years. I could probably dig up several of old journals that have a page in them with the words “Larry and Paul were standing on the sidewalk” penned on the page. The two characters finally have a place in this book as soon as a good plot came to mind. This plot revolves around a character named Lily who, on a whim, picks up and leaves everyone behind. Her absence becomes a mystery for her boyfriend Gus and their friends.
